Several of the major rental car companies provide car hire at Bergen Airport, including Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Thrifty, and SIXT.

However, the existing terminal was originally established for 2.8 million passengers which is no longer sufficient. Over the past decades, the airport has undergone several expansions and renovations. The terminal features six retail outlets, including Tanum (a leading Norwegian bookstore and giftshop), Ting (offering souvenirs and travel essentials), Travel Value (electronics and travel accessories), and ARG Æra herre og dame (fashion and accessories).

How we calculate On Time Performance

On various pages of our website, you will encounter a metric widely utilized in aviation and other forms of transportation known as OTP (On Time Performance). The airport also provides assistance for passengers with special needs, including fast-track security and dedicated support staff5.

The project was led by the Nordic Office of Architecture and aimed to address the growing demand—passenger traffic had been increasing by about 6% annually, reaching over 6 million passengers before the new terminal was completed.

Terminal Description, Zones, and Levels

The new main terminal (Terminal 3) is a modern, light-filled structure designed for domestic flights, while the older terminal primarily serves international traffic.

These establishments serve everything from traditional Norwegian cuisine and fresh seafood to international fast food and specialty coffee. Popular domestic routes include Bergen–Oslo (about 50 minutes), Bergen–Trondheim (about 1 hour), and Bergen–Stavanger (about 40 minutes). A currency exchange bureau is situated in the arrivals hall on the first level, providing services for international travelers who need to exchange money upon arrival or before departure.
